Fall reading

On Thursday Ms. Katherine or Ms. Kat as the kids like to call her (our Program Coordinator at AOFC),  got the pleasure of reading some Fall books to the Preschool and Pre K classes in the Enrichment room. The kids did awesome and loved listening to the different books that Ms. Kat read to them and even answered a few questions at the end of each book.   Our friend's love to read at AOFC and they had such fun listening to the special books being read by Ms. Kat and can't wait to do it again!

Trunk or Treat

We had an awesome Halloween Trunk or Treat to help celebrate Halloween and the end of October! Our parents really brought it this year and we had everything from Super hero's to Unicorns with a few princesses thrown in as well.  The trunks get more and more creative every year and we love seeing what our parents come up with and what the kids will love as well.  Lots of treats were given out but no tricks of course and a fun time was had by all.  AOFC loves our sweet and spooky families!

They went all out for the Alice and Wonderland theme!

Pretty princess!

They are vets in real life too!

Car seat safety Event

AOFC hosted our annual car seat checks with representatives from the Williamson Co Police and Sheriffs Dept as well as nurse who was a car seat tech letting parents know whether straps and buckles were secured properly as well as the car seat itself.  Parents filled out a brief questionnaire and then the tech went through each aspect of checking the seats safety.  We felt honored to host such an event and took pride in knowing that each child was safe and happy in their newly checked car seats traveling to and from school, home and etc.. each day.   AOFC is all about the families!

Caramel Apple Social

It was all about the apples at our first ever Caramel Apple Social and it was deemed a favorite by everyone.   There were apple slices,  delicious caramel and lots of toppings to be enjoyed by our sweet families and boy did they enjoy it, the dipping game was strong along with lots of exclamations of " yummy",  " Sprinkles are the best" ,  and finally "we need more marshmallows please"!! We will definitely have this social again ! AOFC love apples especially caramel ones!

National Play-Doh Day

Did you know: Play-Doh was first manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio as a wall paper cleaner in the 1930's then reworked and marketed to Cincinnati schools in the mid-1950's.  Finally Play-Doh was demonstrated at an educational convention in 1956 prompting prominent department stores to open retail accounts sell the popular putty.

At AOFC we celebrated National Play-Doh day with our favorite Play doh toys and colors as well as a fun take home treat once all the playing, cutting and rolling was done with the Play- Doh laid out for families to have fun with together.  Who knew that a wall paper cleaner from the 1950's would become not only a tool used for fun but learning in classroom and homes in many parts of world.  We love seeing the creative uses for Play-Doh in our classrooms and how excited the kids get while both learning and playing with it.

Take home treat for our families!

Grandparents Day

It was a very special day at AOFC, Grandparents Day, where we celebrated and loved on all the Grandparents that are a part of our school family.  Lots of sweet smiles, pancakes, extra syrup and even some stories were a part of the festivities this morning.  We loved seeing the Grandparents being lead around by their grandchildren while they pointed out friends, their classrooms and where the playground was followed by hugs and kisses as they were dropped off to their teachers in the morning.  We have amazing families at AOFC and we were honored to have all those special Grandparents visit us this morning.  Hooray for Grandparents Day at AOFC!!

Foam Day

AOFC is all about the foam and we love foam day which consists of a playground full of foam,  awesome music,  and all the excitement, squeals and looks of wonder as the playground fills with white soft foam. It is definitely one of our most coveted days both with kids and teachers as a day that everyone looks forward too all summer.  All of our first timers can't wait for next summer when it happens again !! Foam day is the best day!

Drumming Program

We had very special guest this week at AOFC, Mr Clifford who brought all kinds of amazing drums from Africa and other parts of the world.  There were very large ones with deep sounds, medium sized drums with a higher sound and finally small hand held drums that had small, loud and high sounds.   Mr Clifford used his hands to drum as well as special drum sticks that would change what the drum would sound like depending on how hard you hit it and what you used.   Our kiddos couldn't wait for their turn to drum especially since there were several to try out.  We loved learning all about drums as well as hearing each one and getting to play them!  AOFC is all about learning through experiences and Mr Clifford and his drums were no exception! Everyone loved it and we can't wait for him to come again.

So excited!

Oooey Gooey Week

This week at AOFC it was all about the Oooey Gooey and what kind of sensory sensation would be the Oooiest and Gooiest to learn and play with all week!!  All  of our kids made Rainbow slime, played in mounds of shaving cream and saw the coolest science show that taught them all about solids, liquids and gasses with a drippy, smokey, dry ice demonstration.   Every class has had such fun exploring all the different sensory activities that made them squeal, smile, and learn. We love Oooey Gooey Week at AOFC!

Look at this cool experiment!
