Ooey Gooey Week

 The summer curriculum at AOFC is not only fun but incorporates learning through different themes each week and this week is no exception we kicked off  Ooey Gooey week with slime, foam, shaving cream, paint, ice just to name a few! The shaving cream pit on the playground was a hit and there was lots of shaving cream being tested on hands, faces, hair and anything else you could think of to see how it felt! There was slime to explore in classrooms, finger paint, play dough, ice chalk, and finally a foam party on the playground!! It was definitely a sensory explosion this week and the kids had a ball! Everyone had a blast learning,  touching, and feeling their way through Ooey Gooey week!

Preschool Percussion

 We had a very special guest visit us yesterday at AOFC, Mr Clifford is a percussionist and specializes in preschool drumming programs. He brought all sorts of drums and percussion instruments for the kids to play and listen too. Several of his amazing drums were from Africa as well as shakers made from rocks and one that was even a large dried pea pod. The kids were mesmerized and couldn't wait until it was their turn to play the stand up drums. There was even a lesson on sound as Mr Clifford would play a drum very loudly and then asked them to listen to the difference when he played it softly. The kids loved dancing, playing drums and learning all about the percussion instruments.

Ice Cream Social

 I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!! We had lots of friends and families screaming for ice cream at our AOFC ice cream social where you could top your ice cream with sprinkles, whipped cream and cherries. There were lots of smiling kids and parents enjoying the yummy ice cream and visiting with friends and families. We love seeing all the excitement and ice cream concoctions that were enjoyed that day.

Water day!

 The long awaited day is finally back, the day of the week that everyone comes in bathing suits to school, its WATER DAY!!  Our friends at AOFC love water day and they especially like to tell new friends who haven't ever done it before what it's all about! The water slide was back in action as well as water tables with some new toys ready for playing and when the playground door opened it was water day time!! The kids were so excited and we had the perfect sunny day for them to enjoy all things water! It's back for the summer and though it doesn't last long, every second will be enjoyed until the very last day!! We love Water Day at AOFC!

Summer playground safety tips

 The temperature has started rising and here at AOFC we want to make sure that all our teachers and kids are being both having fun and being safe while playing outside. Staying hydrated is the key to avoiding heat stroke and we ensure that both teachers and kids have multiple water breaks while playing outside in the summer.  Wearing breathable layers of clothing, staying in the shade when possible, drinking lots of water, wearing a hat are all things that can help prevent kids and adults from becoming overheated.  These are just a few of things you can do to not only have fun but stay cool as well! It's important to keep our kids and teachers safe and happy so they can have fun in sun at AOFC this summer!
