Tips to keep you safe and warm in the winter

We all love to play outside when it's cold in the winter but in order to have fun and be safe in the cold temperatures here are a few tips to remember!

1. Adjust winter clothes for children's needs. Dress babies and young children in one more layer of clothing than an adult would wear in the same conditions.

2. Don't forget winter accessories. Remember warm boots, gloves, or mittens make a big difference in keeping young children and babies comfortable.

3. Keep exposure to the cold at a minimum. Babies and young children don't have the same tolerance for  cold that adults do. Its important to limit time outside.

At AOFC we make sure that the the kids have fun outside but are safe and warm as we make sure they are dressed appropriately for the elements so they can have the best experience possible each and every day! Stay warm and be safe!

Frozen dress up day

It's Frozen both inside and outside at AOFC as we had frozen dress up day and there were lots of Anna's, Elsa's and even a few Olaf's in the building yesterday! Let it go was the theme song and classrooms were having Frozen dance parties and sing a longs to go with all the winter deco and frozen temps outside!  We do love snowflakes and our buddy Olaf but our friends are ready for Elsa to reverse the freezing temps outside and give us a bit of a thaw! Dress up days at AOFC are our favorite!

Snowman Potato Prints - Taterly Awesome!

This month we sure have had so much FUN !!  Our students here at AOFC got to put their creative art skills to the test with this special Snowman Potato Prints activity! Each student got their own piece of a real potato that their teacher previously cut for them, along with a piece of paper, various paint colors, and they went to town! It was so fun listening to each child in each age group express themselves differently. Some made a ton of "little snowmen," a"snowman flower,"and even a "potato man!" It was clear by the end of it that this was Taterly-Awesome!!  Everyone got a chance to stamp, swirl, mold, and create their ideal snowman friend to join them on a winter day at school!

Tongue out to help us during this activity! So cute!
