Spring at AOFC

Spring is in the air at AOFC and we are loving the the warm air as well as the trees and flowers starting to bloom. There have been lots of discussions this week about flowers and how they grow as well as where the bugs live outside, what do they eat, etc.. conversations sparked by the beautiful spring weather! Today the kids made awesome flower mosaics with letters and shapes that are the colors of spring. Pete the cat says it best, " The sun is shining, the sky is bright, the birds are singing, and I am feeling alright!"

March activities and St Patrick's Day

It has been a fun couple weeks leading up to St. Patrick's day from making awesome shamrock glasses, taking home leprechaun bait, a contest for the best leprechaun trap, to wearing green and listening to all the fun stories of what the tricky leprechaun did in each classroom its been a very eventful March so far. On St. Patrick's day there were lots of friends wearing green to avoid a pinch and some tricky leprechauns visited some classrooms causing all kind of trouble and leaving behind gold coins.  The end of the day brought lots of excited squeals as the stories of what the leprechaun did in each classroom were told to all the parents at pick up and showing off the gold coins that were left behind for them to take home! Everyone loved celebrating St Patrick's day at AOFC as well as all the other activities leading up the to  lucky day!

Highlighting: Ms Yolanda Preschool One Lead Educator

This week at AOFC we are highlighting one of  our preschool educators this week, Ms Yolanda, lead teacher of  Preschool 1.  Ms Yolanda is a fantastic part of our AOFC family and one of the best preschool teachers as she leads by example and even teaches her class spanish which they have become fairly fluent in counting as well as their colors! Ms Yolanda has been with the Academy for three years and was born in Mexico but for the last 14 years has made Nashville her home with her husband Jose and dog Toby. From kissing boo boos, helping make nap cots, giving hugs and teaching her class Spanish , Ms Yolanda is a valued educator and we love seeing her smiling face each and every day!

Spring into a good book!

The kids at AOFC definitely love to read and whether they are practicing for kindergarten or just for enjoyment books are definitely a large part of learning both in and out of the classroom! They learn about weather, animals, first words, sharing, friends, hugs, holidays and everything in between.  Books are a constant part of their day and classroom favorites are in rotation on a daily basis.  Whether they read with friends or by themselves our kids at AOFC love books!  Our Pre K 2 class does a Friday book share where each friend gets to bring their favorite book to talk about and read with the class as well as on their own. We love fostering the love of books at AOFC!

One of her favorites!
