The Week of The Young Child!

I know I say this all of the time, but truly cannot believe how quickly this year is already flying by! We had another wonderful week here at AOFC this week and everyone is transitioning back into a "normal" routine! April 11th through April 17th is "The week of The Young Child." It is a fun-filled week that focuses on celebrating young kiddos and their families! We have lots of different hands-on activities for the children to participate in encouraging different movement, music, food, and a whole lotta art work! The purpose of this week is to really take a step back and focus all of our attention on the needs of our children. We also focus on having our children collaborate with their families and create different art activities or reading a book to one another, or even do some cooking together! There is a different theme each day for this week and below is where you will see all of the fun we had encouraging our friends to be the best that they can be!

Monday- Music Monday!
Music Monday was so much fun. The children had their typical daily dance parties in their classrooms, but we also took it a step further by playing our fun music on the playground and dancing out their! They absolutely love their dance parties and let me tell you, we certainly have a few kiddos with some pretty phenomenal dance moves :) The kiddos also had a whole lot of fun creating and executing their own homemade maracas! If you haven't seen it yet, follow us on instagram @aofckids to see Ms. Brooke demonstrate how to make a homemade maraca!

 The girls too!

A pre-lunch dance party!

Tuesday- Tasty Tuesday!
Tuesday was spent learning all about different foods and where they come from! The kiddos enjoyed eating a tasty lunch while talking about/describing to their teachers what they were eating, then snack there was a VERY tasty surprise... Earth Day pudding cup! AKA: Chocolate pudding, crushed oreos, and gummy worms! This snack is so delicious and most definitely one of Forrest Crossing's favorite yearly sweet treat. They are also super easy to make at home, so have some fun and recreate the Earth Day cups at home with your littles!

 See!? It's all gone!

The cutest little chocolate pudding nose :)

 Happy girl, don't ya think!?

"No pictures please, I'm eating here!"

Wednesday- Work Together Wednesday!
This was truly one of my personal favorite day! I loved seeing all of the teachers coming up with fun games and different activities for all of their kiddos to do that really challenged them to use team work! Children working together to create something really helps with learning social and emotional skills along with furthering their literacy skills. Plus, doing so truly brings to light just how magical childcare is when your witnessing all of their friendships grow :)
These two have been growing up together for the last three years! Reading a book together!

 Matching some cards together!

And working together to complete a puzzle!

Teamwork to build a huge tower

Working together to finish a big floor puzzle!

Connecting... the blocks and with one another :)

Thursday- Artsy Thursday!
Definitely one of the most fun days during The Week of The Young Child. These kiddos absolutely love doing art. All types of different art was done this week from watercolor, finger painting, mess-free art with the littles, making art with shaving cream, and lots of free art! Children are able to strengthen their fine motor skills and truly show their creativity during art. The best thing is witnessing their big imaginations shine through and we love to celebrate the joy that art brings to them!
 Both focused AND super excited!

Enjoying using some watercolor paint

 His face says it all!

 "Cant smile, too focused."

Just some small talk while using dot markers to paint their butterflies

 Friends using stencils to create!

"Look! It's so beautiful!" Yes girl, it sure is :)

I love watching them go crazy with their drawing materials!

Friday- Family Friday!
At the heart of Forrest Crossing is our families. We love you all so very much and are grateful for the relationships we get to build with each of you! Children LOVE getting to create with their families and we love getting to hear all about them at school. We may be your child's first SCHOOL teacher but remember, you are your child's very first teacher :) We are inspired and encouraged by the role you all play in your children's lives. Thank you for being your child's best teacher and for sharing them with us so we can be their second! For Family Friday we had a really easy, fun, and super cute butterfly magnet craft to send home with each child! We hope you had a great time creating these with your children! Please send us any pictures you have taken of your completed craft! We would love to see them :) Below are just a few more sweet pictures from this fun WOTYC, and everyone could always use some smiles in their life!

To all of our families at home, please know we are thinking about you all and hoping you are doing well! We have loved being able to stay connected with you all through pictures, emails, and especially our instagram! Our teachers have really been enjoying doing their story times and singing songs! We love getting recommendations from you all and videos of your littles participating as well! You can find all of our teacher story times on instagram @aofckids :)
