Countdown to Christmas

We are on the countdown to Christmas here at AOFC with several fun things going on these last couple of weeks.  The Prek and Preschool classes wrote their letters to Santa and put them in the special mailbox that will head straight to the North Pole so the Elves can get started making all the toys! Everyone enjoyed the Christmas show that we had with a Ventriloquist and all her special friends.  They pretented to go on a trip to the North Pole and sang some Christmas songs and listened to a special snail named Arlo that liked to play tricks, talk about wanting to be a Reindeer. So much fun and it was a great way to begin the day and tomorrow the Big man himself comes for a visit here and we can hardly wait! Merry Christmas to you all!

Lots of things on this list!

Annual Door Contest

It is that time of year again at AOFC, time for the Christmas door contest and this year all the classrooms definitely brought their "A" game! We had everything from Baby Elves, Christmas Trees, and even "Grandma Getting Run Over By A Reindeer" and it made choosing a winner very difficult!  The creativity of all the teachers was on display and we couldn't be prouder of all of our fantastic educators! The door contest winner was PS 3 and it's easy to see why! Congrats! Merry Christmas!

Elf adventures in PS 3

I am sure that most of you know the story of the Elf on a shelf well our PS 3 room had their very own special Elf show up at nap time in a box from the North Pole even leaving a bit of snow behind ,to report back to Santa on all the activity going on in the classroom. This special Elf carries magic that can't get touched or he won't be able to fly back to the North Pole so the Elf can only be looked at but not touched!  The  kiddos in PS 3 could name their Elf anything they wanted but by unanimous decision their Elf's name became Pee Yew Kangaroo!! Everyday at naptime, Pee Yew flies in and no one knows what he will do or where he will be in the classroom until everyone is awake to see if he is being naughty or nice that day! Stay tuned for all the adventures of Pee Yew Kangaroo the Elf of PS 3!!

Thankfulness and Gratefulness

Gratitude, thankfulness, or gratefulness comes from the latin word gratus, which means"pleasing" or "thankful". It's regarded as a feeling of appreciation by a recipient of another's kindness. This can be in the form of gifts, help, favors or another form of generosity to another person.  At Aofc, we are thankful for our families, our teachers , and all the learning that goes on each and everyday.  We hope that everyone has a wonderful, grateful, and thankful holiday! Happy Thanksgiving!

Mommy and Me music and movement class

AOFC tried something new this last week in the form of a Mommy and Me music an movement class which was for infants and toddlers as an introduction to music and instruments. Led by an instructor the class involved the child exploring drums, shakers and scarves all while singing and moving to music. The mommies were super excited to help their little ones make noise with all the instruments and sing so many awesome songs !! It was a fun time for all involved and it was awesome to see the mommies and babies having so much fun!

Voting day in Pre K 1 and Pre K 2

It was an important day for our country yesterday as many people went out and exercised their right to vote.  Our Pre k 1 and Pre k 2 classes got their opportunity to learn about voting and even to cast vote themselves to pick what kind of lunch they would have the next day.  The choice was pizza or chicken nuggets and in Pre K 2 it was a close vote with pizza winning at the poll but in Pre k 1 the votes went to chicken nuggets winning the majority of the votes.  This week as a result,  there will be pizza and chicken nuggets served for lunch in each of the Pre K classrooms.  The students in Pre k 2 and Pre K 1 loved making a choice, casting their vote and benefiting from the results!

Excited to vote for lunch!

In Pre K 2, pizza was the winner!

Trunk or Treat

Our families at AOFC came to win this week at our annual Trunk or Treat from under the sea, to the Circus, the trunks were decked out and ready for competition as well as giving out treats!! There was so much thought and creativity put into this years Trunks that it was hard to choose the winner as they could've all won the prize.  Top favorites among the teachers who also decided the winner, were The Sand Lot,  Jurrasic Park,  and Hocus Pocus just to name a few! We are so lucky to have such amazing families with clearly amazing ideas for incredible Trunks that make our AOFC Halloween Trunk or Treat one of our favorite days to celebrate!
