Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year from AOFC ! This has been quite the year for our country, state and school and here's hoping that 2021 will be better all around! With the outgoing year, we have learned so much about how to be tolerate, kind and far more resiliant than we ever thought possible and our kids here at AOFC have played a large part in teaching us those things every single day. We asked some our Pre K 2 and Pre K 1 kids what they wanted to learn how to do in the new year and some of the things were out of this world like learning how to drive a jet car and others had a more down to earth answer like wanting to learn how to read. Whatever the resolution, 2021 is going to be the year to accomplish it so Good bye to 2020 and hello to learning to drive jet cars, put out fires, draw santa, making flowers, ride bikes, swim and read in 2021!! Cheers to the new year!

 Do you know the definition of a spotlight?  One definition is to shine a light on someone or something, to shine, glow or give off light. How about the definition of an educator? A person who provides instruction or education : a teacher.  If you put those two words together you get : Ms Tianah our Spotlight Educator for this quarter and the epitome of both a spotlight and educator as well as a friend. 

This quarter we are honoring, Ms. Tianah, our Preschool 3 Lead Educator! Having Ms. Tianah as a part of our AOFC Family makes a huge difference. Tianah has exceptional relationships with the children and their families. Ms. Tianah is extremely knowledgeable in Early Childhood Education. She specializes and excels in classroom management and is incredibly organized and creative- all those aspects are evident when you walk into her classroom.  I know that there is no obstacle that could be presented to Tianah that she could not overcome. She is incredibly kind, talented, and always keeps us laughing with her upbeat attitude. She always has helpful ideas and great perspectives which makes her an invaluable member of our team. We appreciate everything Ms. Tianah does to help us provide an excellent program and quality care and education to our children and their families. Thank you Tianah for being you- you make all of our jobs around here a bit easier and a lot more fun! 

Christmas Spirit week at AOFC

 This is our favorite week at AOFC as it is Christmas Spirit week and we had everything from headbands with Reindeer ears, Santa hats and even Christmas trees on hats plus socks with llamas and festive Christmas sweaters  and some amazing holiday leggings. The countdown to Christmas is on and getting in the spirit is half the fun and seeing all the awesome Christmas gear is the best part. From infants to teachers everyone was rocking their red and green and everything in between! Merry almost Christmas from AOFC!

 We are getting into the Christmas spirit here at AOFC and nothing says Christmas like a little friendly competition and our teachers certainly brought it with all the amazing door decorations! We took a walk to Whoville and then saw Snoopy and his buddy Charlie Brown  and then there was an amazing ride on the Polar Express! There were so many great doors it was hard to decide which one was our favorite and everyone worked so hard! The holidays are such a festive time of year and our teachers are really showing all of their Christmas spirit in the classrooms! If we can't decide on our favorite can you?!

What we are thankful at AOFC!

 The staff  here at The Academy of Forrest Crossing are amazing and they work super hard to love, teach and keep the kids safe every hour of everyday there are here!! We have a lot to be thankful for this year even though times have been challenging and downright depressing there have been bright spots that have shown through even in the toughest of times and I thought writing down what we are thankful for would keep those bright spots shining!! Each of the staff had a leaf to write down what they were thankful for on and then post in our break room so we could all look at what each person wrote down and there were lots of warm fuzzy feelings floating around after that for sure! Our Pre K 2 class had lots of things they were thankful for as well and their sweet hearts on the bulletin board said it all!

PS 3 adopts a Sea Turtle

 Our Ps 3 class has had the amazing opportunity provided by a parent of a student in the class, to adopt a rescued sea turtle named Rebel. The kids received a special package last week with a book about sea turtles, a certificate for their class declaring  his adoption, an information sheet all about Rebel and finally a picture of their special friend! Rebel lives at The Turtle Hospital in Marathon Fl and he was injured by a boat and can no longer use his back flippers and it damaged his shell at bit but he is in great care at the hospital. The adoption is for a the whole school year and Rebel will write them letters letting them know how and what he is doing each day. What a special thing for the kids in Ps 3 to look forward to and get to learn all about sea turtles straight from the source !

Election day at AOFC!

 Election day is a huge day across our country and a very important day in our Prek 1 and Prek 2  classes as they got to cast their ballot for President and decide what they would have for lunch Wednesday in class. In a landslide vote, mac and cheese won for lunch vs chicken nuggets and the majority vote for President was Trump in both classes. Pre K learned to use a ballot box to cast their votes as well as a lesson on polls and what happens when you win and when you lose. There was lots of excitement as the winner was announced for both lunch and the President.
