Fun Summer Activities

At AoFC we love families.
We also love to have fun!

Below is some fun activities that are cheap, fun, and family friendly to do at home with your children! We want to give you some ideas for those "boring, summer days" that you might experience! These activities will not only be fun for your child but it will allow you to have some quality time with them without having to put much effort or money into it!

Bubble Snakes
What child does not love bubbles?! This activity uses items that you can already find laying around your house so there is no cost and can provide endless amounts of fun for your child and family!

For complete instructions on how to do the Bubble Snake activity with your child, please click here.

Dream Catchers
Some of our older children at AoFC did this activity in a Prescholar Enrichment class and love it.
All you need is lid, food coloring, toothpick and elmers glue.
Instructions:
Step 1. Pour Elmer's Glue into the lid. (cool whip or butter lid works perfect)
Step 2: Allow your child to drop small amounts of different colors of food coloring into the glue.
Step 3: Drag the toothpick through the glue to make fun designs with the colors.
Step 4: Allow to dry an then remove from lid. You can hang in a window and the sun will shine through it like stained glass!!!

Bulls Eye
How simple! All you need is some chalk and wet sponges for this great activity on a warm, summer day!

Backyard River
This a great 3 and up activity! The entire family can help assemble a river path from tin foil! Put a water hose at one end and let the river begin to flow! Then all you have to do is grab some river supplies like rubber duckies or bath toys that can float down the river! Your child might even get you wet with some extra splashes!

Here is a link to some more awesome activities that you could do as a family!

We would love to see your pictures of fun things you do as a family this summer. Be sure to bring them in so we can hang them on the family wall in your child's classroom!

The Fish Guy visits AOFC!

Have you seen our awesome fish aquarium that we have in our school?

The Fish Guy is responsible for building and taking care of it! It is a beautiful 1,000 gallon tank. All of the decor inside of the tank was created by Universal Rock out of Dallas, TX. Universal Rock is the company that created all of the rocks and props for Jurassic Park! Another really cool fact is that our fish aquarium has fish from three different continents!

We invited him as our special guest in honor of Beach Buddies week at AOFC.

The children were so excited to see what sea creatures he brought with him! They loved listening to all the details about the different sea friends we got to meet today!

I found Nemo! The Fish Guy brought two small Clown Fish for the children to see! This was definitely a huge hit of the afternoon.

The children loved seeing the Sea Urchin up close! Did you know Sea Urchins have spiny shells for protection and love living in the warm ocean water!

The Fish Guy also brought Shrimp for our friends to look at! There are nearly 2000 different species of Shrimp!

Here is a great picture of some Star Fish he brought in and also, Grover, the Zebra Eel. He was the special guest of the show for sure!

Fun Zebra Eel Facts:
- They eat Shrimp and Crawfish
-The only eat once a week!
-They can grow up to 5 feet long!

I would say it was a great "Fishy" day at AOFC!

Water Works Week at AOFC

All Summer long we are going to have a different weekly theme that is filled with over the top fun, crafts, special guests, and learning. This week our theme was Water Works and we had tons of activities involving water and bubbles!

We were honored to have the Aquatics Director from our local YMCA come over and teach our
Pre-K 1 class and Preschool 2 class all about water safety! They learned about life jackets, pool noodles, lifeguard rescue tubes, and even talked about how to float in water!

Here is a great poster talking about water safety tips from the YMCA!

This sweet Toddler 1 friend loved the bubble machine! All of our toddlers got to play with bubbles in celebration of Water Works Week!

Pre-K 1 made bubble art! Once they made tons of bubbles in their cup, they pressed paper on to it making bubble prints! Such a fun art project!

Preschool 2 learned all about ice and how it is formed! After singing "Let It Go", they got to paint on their very own sheet of ice!

Wednesday we had a school wide CHALK AND BUBBLE PARTY! The children loved soaking up the sun and having some fun outside!
Preschool 1 loved drawing line with all of the different colors of chalk! It was pretty awesome just like his shirt says!

This handsome Toddler 1 friend loved the mega big bubble wand! Look at all those bubbles he is making!

Preschool 2 had a dance party in the bubbles! Sometimes you just have to let loose and dance!

Pre-K 1 had fun with all of the different types of bubble wands! They loved comparing sizes of the bubbles!

We also have Water Days during the summer and what better week to start it then Water Works Week! It was a beautiful day to put on a swimsuit and play in the water!
Look at this sweet little friend playing in the water bin! She had so much fun splashing in the water with her toys!

The Pre-K 1 girls sure loved running from the sprinkler! Her expression is the perfect moment captured!

Our Preschool 2 class loved getting their hair wet and running into the sprinkler! Our crazy sprinkler provided tons of fun and laughter today!

We have had a great Water Works Week and absolutely can not wait until next week! Next week will be Beach Buddies themed and the children are already getting excited about it!

Petting Zoo Visits AOFC

We had the Little Critter's Petting Zoo come to AOFC! All of our children got to explore and hang out with the animals for a little while and they even got to feed them! It was so fun to see the different reactions of the children when the sheep would 'baa' or the goat would come up and sniff them!

Well hello Mr. Goat! It is nice to see you also!

This Toddler 1 friend wanted the bunny to come out and play. Look how cute and fluffy the bunny is!

Our Pre-K 1 class loved feeding the animals! They all agreed that when the goats licked the seed off of their hands it tickled them! This face shows pure excitement!

These Preschool 2 friends were fascinated by the bunny! They were trying to figure out how to open the bunny cage up so they could pet her!

Check out our sheep friends that visited! The children loved rubbing their wool.

Some of our Preschool 1 friends exploring the inside of the petting zoo! Some of the animals were bigger than them!

Look at these sweet faces rubbing the bunny! I think I spy a goat sneaking some of the bunnies water!

The sheep loved licking all the food off of her little fingers! More please!

All in all, it was a great day with the petting zoo. They brought sheep, goats, an alpaca, a mini horse, a donkey, and even a mini cow! How fun!

Pre-K Prom 2016

Every year AOFC will host a Pre-K prom as a way to celebrate all of the Pre-K children before the start to prepare to head off to Elementary School. This year we had an "Old Hollywood" theme all the children came dressed for the red carpet! It was so much fun!
We served all of our guest some yummy strawberry lemonade with gold sugar rimmed glasses. Sometimes it is nice to be a little fancy!

The Red Carpet Ropes (twizzlers) and the star shaped sandwiches and pizzas were a big hit!

Every child got to take home a Swag Bag! The bags were filled with tons of fun goodies including their very own microphone that was filled with bubbles.

This was our awesome popcorn bar! You could add different flavor shakers to your popcorn as well as some different candies! The chocolate "Golden Globes" was definitely a favorite!

This sweet friend loved having her Dad as her date! They were so sweet dancing the night away together.

The girls having a good chat. These friends are so precious together.

The DJ brought balloons with him for some added fun! They quickly realized it was more fun to just pop the balloons.

Ms. Rebeka, our Infant 1 assistant, even came to prom and shared the dance floor with the Pre-K class. They loved having her out there with them!

I spy Mrs. Erica, our director. Everyone loved dancing the night away. Frozen songs were definitely a fan favorite!

Here is our famous Ms. Dawn. She is the best Pre-K teacher and we are so blessed to have her here at AOFC with us!

I hope you enjoyed our Prom recap. It sure was a fun night for all that attended!
