Family Game Day

This past Friday we hosted Family Game Day! Including family in our activities is something that we absolutely love to do! We had some parent volunteers come out and play board games, and gross motor games with our friends. Everyone had a blast being able to play games and learn about sportsmanship, and sharing with their friends! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped us play!

Nutritious & Delicious

Here at AoFC, we understand that nutrition is a very important factor for children and are acutely aware of the fact that it can be linked to growth and development. Our menu which includes organic meals, a variety of options and all around healthy choices is something that we take a lot of pride in. We've found that providing our kids with new and "adventurous" options such as edamame, and hummus has given them the opportunity to try different foods they wouldn't normally eat. We are also Gold Sneaker certified meaning all eating opportunities should consist of a respect for the child and promoting a positive attitude toward food. Don't you worry if you have dietary restrictions, we've got you covered. We have parents who've chosen to bring in lunch and we also offer substitutions when needed. Each classroom including infants also has an allergy list posted in their classroom and each and all teachers are trained to review allergies before serving lunch. Ms. Jeannette our on-site Health and Wellness Coordinator attends nutrition training's regularly as we are continuously learning about nutrition and how it affects our growing bodies, as well as learning new and tasty menu options.

Yummy! Tod3 is enjoying their delicious lunch!

I think this silly girl really liked her Baked Ziti!

Imagination Station (Dramatic Play Makeovers)

Does your playroom often get transformed into a pirate ship, a train station, a superhero battleground, or even a rocket ship headed to outer space? This is all part of what is called Dramatic Play where kids will assign and accept roles and then act them out. Here at AoFC our kids absolutely love dramatic play and being able to use their imaginations by making us so much food, and selling us things from the store, and calling up all of their friends. There are also so many benefits that come along with participating in dramatic play such as teaching self-regulation, conflict resolution, and even help relieve emotional tension. Our teachers have transformed their dramatic play centers into different themes, such as Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Firefighters working, and even a salon. And our kids are having so much fun learning and using their imagination!

These little firefighters are ready to get to work! Time to save the day!
