It was wild in here this week as we had a visit from Animal Tales where the kids learned all about the special animals that came to visit them! From Woodsly the Owl to Charlotte the Tarantula, the kids got a full show about amphibians, mammals and insects. They learned about Bert the giant African Frog and that he can see through a special eyelid on his eye that comes down when he sleeps. Charlotte the Tarantula has ten legs and can't smell but senses vibrations that alert her to predators and danger. Primrose the Prairie Dog was a definite favorite as she did tricks for treats and loved getting snuggles! It was an awesome show and the kids enjoyed it so much especially the end when they got to touch Steve the snake and see what he felt like on their fingers! Lots of cool animals and interesting facts made the Animal Tales visit one the kids won't forget for a long time!

Mad Scientist week at AOFC
This week there were a bunch of Mad Scientists running around the building doing experiments like coke and mentos eruptions, lemon volcanos and using milk, food coloring and dawn dish soap to get a reaction!! The budding scientists loved all the cool experiments and the teachers loved the conversations that were sparked by the experiments as well. The Mad Scientists, I mean kids, had no idea that they were learning while doing all these hands on, super easy and fun activities that created questions and answers as well as stimulated their imaginations! We love Mad Scientist week at AOFC!

From Pre K to Kindergarten
In the last couple of weeks we have been saying farewell to our Pre K 2 class as most have graduated and will begin Kindergarten soon. We have loved watching each one of them flourish as some have been with us since they were babies and others since they were toddlers or preschoolers. Pre K Two has prepared them for all the things they will encounter in Kindergarten and we are confident that they all are going to have a fantastic year!! It has been a pleasure to watch you all learn and grow at AOFC!

Bus Visit
Our Pre K two class got a visit from a Williamson County School Bus and a School Bus driver as part of their Kindergarten Boot Camp this week. The kids got to check out the inside and learned all the safety rules of riding a bus, the most important one being to always be sitting in your seat while the bus is in motion. They got to put the windows down and pretend that they were on their way to school in a few short weeks. It is one of their favorite days and we are so excited to hear all the chatter about the bus when they come back from the visit! Pre K two loved their tour of the school bus and when they ride one to school they will know just what to do!

Green Thumbs week at AOFC
It is Green Thumbs week at AOFC and the kids have had so much fun playing in garden sensory bins, doing sunflower art and reading The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. They learned all about how flowers grow and the essentials dirt, water, sun and seeds which help gardens produce flowers and food. It was a fun week of getting their hands dirty painting and playing in sensory bins all while learning about flowers, flower gardens and what it takes to keep both the garden and the things growing in it healthy and flourishing!

Pre K Drive- In Movie Day
This week was one of our favorite events and that is the Pre K 1 and 2 drive in movie where each child in the class displays their homemade car that they use to watch the movie . From Unicorns to Lightning McQueen and even a jeep, the cars were painted, glued and glittered so they would be ready for the big day! Everyone got so excited to see all the different cars and how much work went in to making them special as well as personal to each child. Popcorn and a Lego movie topped off the day and we loved seeing the smiling faces of both the kids and teachers as they enjoyed their special morning!

Just Imagine....
This week is all about Imagination at AOFC! Imagine if you were a Disney Princess, your favorite Super Hero, the possibilities are endless when your imagination is involved. We love seeing all the amazing things that the teachers are using in the classroom to keep that imagination working, from boxes that are tents and space ships to menus that are used for orders in kitchen center. Using their imagination gives the kids the freedom to be an do whatever it is they want in the moment and it allows teachers to ask questions which leads to incredible moments of learning!! Even the infant rooms got in on the action, squishing, mashing and even patting the bag that held a canvas that looked amazing after it was done! Just imagine.. the possibilities are endless!!
